Account Protection

Equiptrack cares about the security of your accounts and wants to help you avoid potential phishing scams.  See our Account Protection tips below.

See several best practices below to help keep your information secure:

Phishing attacks can trick you into giving up your passwords or trick you into installing malware on your device. Attackers can use malware to remotely control your device, steal information, or spy on you. A phishing attack usually comes in the form of a message meant to convince you to:

    –  click on a link;

    –  open a document;

    –  install software on your device; or

    –  enter your username and password to a website that’s made to look legitimate.

  1. Always question hyperlinks in email

    Double check hyperlinks before you click on them. Phishing links often look very similar to legitimate URLs. If you question a hyperlink, you can manually type the URL into your web browser to make sure you’re visiting the intended site.

  2. Verify you see HTTPS in the address bar

    Equiptrack websites will always include “HTTPS” rather than “HTTP”. Check to make sure the “S” is there, confirming the data on that site is shared through a secure channel.

  3. Check for spelling errors within the email or on a site

    Oftentimes, phishing emails and sites will include numerous typos. Review them for a “gut-check“ on their validity.

  4. Don’t provide your credentials via text or phone

    Equiptrack won’t ask you for your password via text message or phone calls. Be sure not provide this sensitive information via a channel you cannot verify.

  5. Keep your software, including anti-virus protection, updated

    Maintaining current anti-virus software is your fist line of defense against malware delivered by phishing attacks.
